In the rear rises the headquarters of Chosun Ilbo, the most read newspaper in the nation and a mouthpiece of the far right.
In front is the political banner from the newly reorganized main leftist political party, the Democratic Party. It more or less replaced the Uri Party that used to be run by President Roh Moo-hyun until disintegrating due to infighting (and contributing to the far-right landslide of 2007 and 2008). The banner accuses far-right new President Lee Myung-bak of his inheritance tax "reforms," which in their words consist of giving tax breaks to the richest 1% while raising property taxes on the bottom 80%.
